What you will learn

• Exercise 01 · Start before you feel ready. Film your first simple clip and begin without waiting until everything feels perfect.
• Exercise 02 · See what light can do. Film the same subject in two lighting conditions and see the difference for yourself.
• Exercise 03 · Set up your phone properly. Work through the core settings we use at HAAUS, then film a test clip to check your setup.
• Exercise 04 · See what the angle changes. Film one subject from three different positions and compare how each angle changes what you see.
• Exercise 05 · Move the phone more smoothly. Practise simple push in, pull out and slide across movements and learn how to make your movement more controlled.

Each exercise gives you one clear filming task to complete. Keep the clip, save it as a draft or post it. Publishing is completely optional.

Four things people ask

I am camera shy. Is this for me? Yes. Every exercise in Film It Properly is faceless. You are learning how to film the content, not how to perform for the camera.

Do I need an iPhone? No. The detailed HAAUS setup is shown on iPhone because that is what we film with, but Android guidance and equivalent filming principles are included throughout. Menu names and available features will vary by phone.

Do I need to post the exercises? No. You can keep every clip privately in your camera roll or HAAUS Filming album. If you want to post, the guide gives you simple starting points. If you do not, you can still complete the entire module.

I do not have much time. Most exercises take about 15 to 30 minutes, with around 30 to 45 minutes once for the phone setup. Work through them at your own pace. You do not need to complete them on consecutive days.
